September Update

By late August, the nights have already become cooler. The leaves are still green but soon they will begin to turn into the hues of Autumn. People journey from all over the U.S. to check out the foliage in the Northeast. It is particularly beautiful in the Catskill and Berkshire mountains.

On August 25th, the movers came and the day that I knew would happen someday, Really Happened. My parents lived in our beautiful brick house for almost 50 years! Even though I have lived away for many years, that was always HOME. Saying goodbye has been a process…I have been taking my time to understand and accept this major change…

The new house is in the same neighborhood, my Mother loved the area and decided to stay close by. The new house is adorable and comfortable. It reminds me of the Brady Bunch house and was built in the early 1960’s.I am contented with having the attic/loft all to my self… Decorating it will be fun but I have not had much time for that lately.

Things are settling down and our old family home will be put on the market soon. It is the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one.On August 23rd and for some of the 24th, my brother who was visiting from MO assisted with my Yard Sale. We had various household items, sporting equipment and furniture.
One gentleman arrived extra early and purchased a bunch of my father’s old fishing equipment, broken clocks and other misc. items. My brother was quite the wheeler and dealer.

My mother, aunt and I had a lovely Vegan dinner at The Enchanted Cafe in Red Hook, NY.I found out about this through a Meetup Group called Hudson Valley Vegans. Here is the menu. The Raw Vegan Cheesecake was incredible and could put any dairy based Cheesecake to shame. Red Hook is about a half hour drive south of Hudson. What a lovely village, full of quaint Victorian homes and the very Bohemian Bard College is nearby. Actually, all along the Hudson River are beautiful little towns and cities with wonderful history and architecture. I attended Marist College which is further south right on the river in historic Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist has one of the most beautiful college campuses I have ever seen. The Hudson Valley is quite a magical place!
